Sugar cookie
I always trust Alton Brown’s recipes.
Ingredients:
3 cups all purpose flour
3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 tbsp milk
Powdered sugar
The recipe:
1. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
2. Beat softened butter and sugar in stand mixer until light coloured.
3. Add egg and milk and continue to mix.
4. Slowly add the dry ingredients until combined.
5. Divide the dough into 2-3 portions and wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
6. Heat oven to 375F.
7. Roll out a piece of dough into 1/4 inch sheets, then cut into shapes.
8. Bake cookies for 10 minutes.
9. Let cookies cool before decorating with icing and sprinkles.
